What's cheaper than the BevMo 5 cent wine sale ---> Sangria made with Trader Joe's $2 Chuck of course! Two weekends ago my friend Julia and I hosted our wonderful friends Paul and Sharon's engagement party. Julia and I were a full concierge service. Not only did we plan and cater the entire event she also did Sharon's hair and makeup and I styled her for the party. We will be posting some of the recipes on future blogs but for now I wanted to share my sangria recipe which was a hit with our 30+ guests and it significantly reduced our overall party budget. We made about 6 quarts of sangria for under $20. Since it was a warmer San Francisco night most of the guests opted for the cold Sangria instead of room temperature wine. You can purchase a 6 quart beverage dispenser at World Market for $14.99.
Here's the party recipe (enough for a 6 quart dispenser):
* An assortment of fruit: 1 apple, 2 peaches, 2 oranges, 1 lime, 1 lemon
* Soak the fruit for at least an hour (but can be done overnight) in 1 cup of triple sec
* For a 6 quart container you can fit about 5-6 bottles of wine. I used 6 bottles of chilled Trader Joe's $2 Chuck Cabernet Sauvignon
* An hour before the party pour and stir 1 litter of ginger ale
* Enjoy!
