The "Smash" Smoothie

Even though we cancelled our cable a few weeks ago ( a savings of $40+ a month) I seem to be watching more t.v. shows but not on our 55 inch flat screen. Instead I've been catching up on my shows and watching new shows on my evil little time sucking  Ipad. One of the shows I just finished was Smash on Smash is an American musical drama series revolving around a musical based on the life of Marilyn Monroe. On a few of the later episodes Uma Thurman guest stars as a demanding hollywood actress who was going to be the lead Marilyn . One of her constant demands were for flax-seed kale coconut milk smoothies. It sounded like an interesting combination  so I was curious to try it....

My Version of the "Smash: Smoothie

  • 1 cup coconut milk 
  • 1 cup kale (I personally like flat kale)
  • 1/2 banana
  • 1 tsp ground flaxseed 
  • 1 scoop whey protein powder (optional)
Simply put all the ingredients together in a blender and blend. 
What does it taste like? Well it taste very green. I think the coconut milk and banana definitely improve the flavor. I don't think this smoothie is for everyone but I kind of (stressing the kind of) like it and could make it a few more times. Maybe next time I'll add pineapple. Pineapple seems to improve the flavor of anything don't you agree?
